WHEN A SESSION ENDS

Twenty-five minutes, then a break

Twenty-five minutes is the classic Pomodoro session: long enough to make real progress on one task, short enough to start without dread. Tap the circle to begin. When the bell rings, take five minutes off.

Why 25 minutes?

The Pomodoro Technique, created by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, works in 25-minute sessions with short breaks in between. A short, fixed block makes it easier to start and gives you a clear moment to stop and rest.

If 25 minutes feels too short for deep work, try the 50/10 or 90-minute timers. If it feels too long, set the session to 15 minutes in Settings and build up.

How to use it

  • Pick one task and write it down.
  • Tap the circle. The dial empties as the minutes pass.
  • Work until the bell. If something else comes up, note it and carry on.
  • Take the 5-minute break, then start the next round.
  • After four rounds, take a longer 15-minute break.

The same timer on your phone and tablet

Pomodoro Timer for Android has the same look and the same one-tap timer, on phones, tablets and foldables.

Questions

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. It counts down to a fixed end time, so the bell rings on time even when this tab is in the background. Only closing the browser stops it.

Can I change the 25 minutes?

Yes. Open Settings (the three lines at the top right) and set any length from 1 to 240 minutes.

Is it free?

Yes. There are no ads and no sign-up.
